Prayagraj · Uttar Pradesh

Cricket in Uttar Pradesh, organised properly.

We run tournaments and open trials for players from Under-14 up to senior cricket, in districts across the state. The calendar goes up before the season starts, and anyone eligible can turn up to a trial.

What we do

What the association actually does

Not a mission statement. These are the four jobs, and they are what we should be judged on.

Tournaments

Inter-district and invitational competitions at every age group. Fixtures and results go up as matches are played, not weeks afterwards.

Open trials

Ground, date and reporting time are posted ahead of every trial. You don't need an invitation, and you don't need to know anybody.

Registration

Register once. Your age, district and match history stay on file, so nobody has to reconstruct them three seasons later.

Development

Coaching camps and match practice, plus help for the District Associations already doing the work in their own districts.

The pathway · boys and men

Where a player goes from here

No cricketer should have to guess what the next rung is. These are the age groups we select and compete in.

Under‑14

A player's first organised cricket. Basics, time in the middle, bowling loads kept sensible.

Under‑16

District squads, and the first competition that runs a full length.

Under‑19

The age group that gets watched hardest. Longer formats, heavier schedules.

Under‑23

For players who aren't finished developing. More overs, less hurry.

Senior

Open competition, men's and women's, drawn from every district we reach.

The pathway · girls and women

Where a girl goes from here

Girls' cricket runs on its own age groups — three rungs rather than five, but the principle does not change. Every step is longer and harder than the one below it.

Under‑15

The first organised cricket most girls play. Grounding in the basics, plenty of time in the middle, workloads kept light.

Under‑19

Where the selectors look hardest. Longer innings, full match conditions and a proper season behind them.

Senior

Open competition for the state's women's sides, picked from the same open trials as everybody else.

About the association

Why we bother

Uttar Pradesh produces more cricketers than almost anywhere in India. Most of them start a long way from a stadium, and plenty never get near a properly umpired match on a prepared wicket, simply because nobody nearby is putting one on.

That is the gap we work in. It is unglamorous: fixing a calendar and then sticking to it, calling trials anyone can attend, keeping records that hold up years later, and treating District Associations as partners rather than applicants.

Player after a trial, or a district after a fixture list — both start in the same place. It takes about four minutes and costs nothing.
